We are :
A growing family network started by parents of children and adults touched by Down syndrome.

What we do : (Our Mission)

Our goal is to educate and bring families and the community together to learn acceptance and
communicate knowledge. We make new friends, while providing support, sharing resources and information .

Where we do it :

We currently have members in the following locations all over the Central Wisconsin Area not limited to, but including:

  • Marshfield
    Stevens Point,
    Wisconsin Rapids

  • Why we do it :
Because parents and family are the best advocates for loved ones affected by Down
    syndrome.

    When we meet :

We currently celebrate by getting together about every two months .

We usually choose a location that ensures the group will have time and space to share resources as well as have fun .

Do you have Safety Issues for your individual with DOWN Syndrome?

http://www.safetytat.com/ - Safety tattoo

Check out Project Lifesaver Tab on the PIER Web site - radio signal tracking device

Consider a "RED" dog tag - like the "Army guys" have.
Try as a "shoe string" tag, or zipper tag?

Medic Alert - Local pharmacy - some jewelers

* Just type in Medic Alert into search engine - for many options!

Be inventive as many of our children will not allow "necklace".
How about around an ankle?

Wallet ID?

Understand your personal situation and investigating what works for you....  Safety first!

Peer Sensitivity Training

What is Peer Sensitivity Training?
  • Classroom presentation to teach students about their peer with Down syndrome. Can be presented in one classroom or for a larger school assembly.
  • Teaches students that their peers are more alike them than they are different
  • Teaches students that their peers have the same dreams and hopes for their lives and futures
  • Children are taught that while kids with Down syndrome may take longer to explain themselves, learn how to play in a group, or master their speech, their peers all have the same needs
  • Provides parents with an opportunity to engage their children about children with Down syndrome and other special needs through handouts that students take home.
  • Peer Sensitivity training enhances the quality of life of children with Down syndrome in a variety of ways!
